| Xanten: Dom St Viktor |
Chapter church in Xanten. The church started as a sanctuary on the grave of St Victor, who was martyred end 3rd century. The chapter was founded in the 8th century.
Patron: Victor. The manuscripts display a large veneration for Helena as well, who was supposed to be the founder of the church.
A strange ceremony for the 'deportatio s. Victoris' is described in D-Mbsb Clm 28546.

Some characteristics of the Xanten office:
- On 2nd vespers of Christmas the troped Kyrie
Fons bonitatis is prescribed in stead of Deus in adiutorium.
- On Septuagesima, Sexagesima, etc. the 5th antiphon of lauds with its psalm is
written out fully as a psalm with an alleluia-refrain.

In addition there is a necrologium (B 57) and a Liber memorialis vicariorum (B 61), and a book with the passio S. Victoris (H 6), a martyrologium (H 24), etc.
Most of the Xanten manuscripts are preserved in the Xanten Stiftsarchiv u. -bibl. and summed up in the Handschriftencensus Rheinland (nrs. 1456-1541).
