Helena, empress, mother of Constantin. Ca 312 she converted to Christianity. Feast: 18 August (in Xanten).
She is said to have found parts of the cross. She was especially venerated by the Crosiers.
The legend also says that she founded several churches, among which the Dom of Xanten. In the manuscripts of this church she is mentioned imperatrix or fundatrix huius ecclesie.
Ms. NL-Au I C 17 has the sequence Ad honorem summi regis on fol 81v.
