This church is considered the oldest church north of the Alps dedicated to Our Lady. The church is as old as the 4th century, the period of Bishop Servatius. A chapter was founded in the 9th century. At the end of the 14th century the famous Radulphus de Rivo became dean of the chapter; he carried out many liturgical reforms. Because of this, new liturgical books had to be prepared. Hence we possess a number of liturgical manuscripts from the late 14th century or early 15th century; most of the older ones have been lost. Most of the manuscripts are preserved in the church and described by De Corswarem.

In addition, De Corswarem mentions two other Processionalia, which I could not study, plus a Liber Statutorum, Gospel books, a printed Missal according to the Luik rite (1552), two Passionalia (13th century), a homily book (2nd half 14th century), a Collectarius, a hand book with blessings etc.
A good overview (in Dutch) of the liturgical books is given by De Corswarem in 1923. Unfortunately some of the manuscripts have disappeared since then.
