Nicolaus, lived ca 280-342; bishop of Myra (in Asia minor); feast: 6 December; patron saint of sailors and merchants. He is patron saint of many seaport towns, e.g., Amsterdam.
An alleluia Tumba sancti Nicholai is in the B-GEELdgm Graduale of the Dimpnakerk in Geel (fol. 162v).
Sequentiae for him are: seq. Congaudentes exultemus; seq. Salve pater et patrone (AH 55, nr 269; e.g. NL-Hs 184 C 1).
The Benedicamus-trope Gaude gaude gaude gaude gaude pater Nicolae is in NL-M Jägers 523, from the Rijksabdij in Thorn, nr. 317, in LT-Va F22.95 (2-part), and some other manuscripts.
