Due to the religious troubles the male branche disappeared since ca
1650. The nuns remained in Mariënwater up till 1713; then they had to
leave Mariënwater and move to the Abdij Maria Refugie in Uden; this is
at present the only birgittine monastery left in the Netherlands.
