Rumoldus

Martyr, 8th century. Patron of the Rumolduskerk in Mechelen. Vernacular name: Rombout.
Feast: 1 July or 4 July; relatio: 27 October (in Luik).

His vita was written by Theodericus of St. Trond in the early 12th century.

Chants

A rhymed office is preserved (AH 40, nr 88). AH refers to books from Mechelen, Tongeren and Brussel. Two hymns are known (AH 12, nrs. 412-413): Exsultemus for vespers, Aulae celestis for lauds. No music manuscripts of the office or the hymns are known.

AH 40, nr 330, mentions the sequentia Jubilemus salutari, referring to some missals of the diocese of Luik, among which B-Br 3782. This sequence is also preserved in NL-DHk 71 A 4.

An alleluia O martyr mundi speculum rumolde pater presulum is on f. 195r of NL-DHk 71 A 3.

In addition, some chants are in the appendix of AH 28 (nr. 217, p. 318).

An office for him is in B-Br 128, f. 200 (mentioned by Van den Gheyn).
