Egidius

Hermit and abbot; born early 7th century, died ca 710. Founder of an abbey in the Provence that was named St Giles afterwards.
Feast: 1 September.

His office is found in some Rhineland manuscripts, e.g. in D-AAm G20 (296r-298v). This is a complete office according to the secular cursus, with modal order in all services. Part of this office (the lauds antiphons) occur in a monastic office from Braunschweig also (AH 52, nr. 384, pp. 329-331).

A fragment with part of the secular office is re-used as a cover of an account book (?) from the Antoniusklooster in Albergen.
