Small office book (14 ff.), 13th century, square notation on red 5-line staves, probably from the abbey of Villers.
Containing the offices for Arnulphus Villariensis and Maria of Oignies according to the monastic cursus. The offices and hymns are ascribed to Goswin of Bossut who was cantor in the abbey of Villers.
F. 1v: In sollempnitate famuli dei arnulphi conversi
villariensis que est ii kal. Julii ad vesperas super ps. ant.
Celebretur hodierna arnulphi sollempnitas ... ant. Hic fertur
fuisse natus ...
Responsories (f. 2v): resp. Fuit in
bruxella quidam adolescens arnulphus ... v Hic cum esset in ardore ....
F. 8v: Anno domini M CC XIIIo In vigilia sancti Ioannis baptiste dominica obit apud oengis sponsa xpisti maria de nivella. Then follow indications for the mass chants, followed by: Ad vesperas super ps. ant. Celebris hec festivitas ... ant. Hec exorta de nivella .... The antiphons are in modal order, the responsories are not.
