| Clarissen |
Clarissen or 'Tweede Orde van Franciscus', female order, founded by St
Clara, disciple of St. Franciscus, ca second quarter 13th
century. Several kinds of Clarissen can be discerned:
| Rijke Claren or Urbanisten, following the rule formulated by Pope
Urbanus IV in 1263; their monasteries were allowed to own properties,
in contrast to the ideas of St Clara herself |
| Clarissae or 'ghereformeerde clarissen', observing either the rule
of pope Urbanus IV or the rule of St Clara, and in addition comments
of Johannes of Capistrania of 1445 |
| Clarissen-Coletinen, Clarissae pauperes or Arme Claren, observing the
rule of Clara with the consuetudines of Coleta (since the 15th century) |
| Capucinessen
