Vincentius

Martyr, died 304. Feast: 22 January. Deacon under bishop Valerius in Zaragoza. He was the first Spanish martyr.

His office is found in the manuscripts of Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk in Tongeren, B-TO 63 (fols 199v-204v) and B-TO 64; on fol 291 of ms 63 is the hymn Ad laudem regis glorie. The same office is in NL-SHsj 216-1 from St Janskerk in 's Hertogenbosch. The office is not in LMLO.

Some chants for Vincentius are in NL-Hs 184 C 5 (Lebuinuskerk of Zoeterwoude, 1480).

Fragment 37 of B-Br IV 627 bears part of the office.

The sequentia Martiris egregie is in B-Br 3782 and in manuscripts from the region of Haarlem, e.g. NL-Hs 184 C 1. The sequence Precelsa seclis excolitur is in B-Br 1505-1506 in heightened but staffless Lorraine neumes (Ganda et Blandinium, p. 163 for a photo).
