Amalberga of Munsterbilzen |
Amalberga of Munsterbilzen (Amalberga of Gent), died ca 772; feast: 10 July. She refused to marry Karel Martel and became a nun in Amorabdij in Munsterbilzen under abbess Landrada. She was buried in Munsterbilzen, but translated to Pietersabdij in Gent in 1073.
She is often confused with Amalberga of Maubeuge, who is celebrated on the same day.
Two hymns and an office for her are in F-Pn lat
5606 (early 13th century), belonging to the Pietersabdij in Gent. The hymns are: Agnum
sponsum virginum and Claris psallendo vocibus
One of the reponsories (1st noct., 2nd resp.): Sacro fonte regenerata postquam est ablactata per singula etatis incrementa virginum germinavit augmenta. Verse: Deo cara et angelis merito pudicie virginalis.
Amalberga is not mentioned in LMLO.
