| Antiphoner fragments of the Utrecht Paulusabdij |
Some leaves of a mid 12th century Antiphonarium have survived, partly as NL-Uu, part of charterdoos 4, partly as flyleaves of NL-Uu, F 4o 116 Rar. In addition, one leaf is found in Leuven, CB, Farde Aanwinsten 1995.
On this moment 11 leaves are known, and perhaps more will turn up.
The folia from the Utrecht UB have been recycled as flyleaves in books from the Utrecht Paulusabdij, and it seems plausible to assume that the 12th century antiphoner originally belonged to this abbey.
The fragments bear a staff notation, an early Hufnagelschrift that can be reckoned to the notations of the Low Countries. This is the oldest known staff notation from the northern part of the Low Countries.
