Old call number: nr. 258. Notated missale, 2nd half 12th century or ca 1200; used in the parish church of Hellum near Groningen (the so-called 'Helmster Missale'). The Groningen saints Walfridus and Rafridus occur in some of the prayers.
Staffles neumes of the Low Countries; occasionally flats and natural signs occur in the staffless neumes, espec. fols. 71r and further (e.g. fol. 75v: Alleluia Domine in virtute).
The manuscript is incomplete, and opens just before mid Quadragesima. Fol. 1 has the introit Verba mea auribus and fol. 3 has Dominica Laetare. After the Temporale is a lacuna; then follows on fol. 105r the Sanctorale, opening with Felicis confessoris. Fol. 166r: Dedicatio Ecclesiae; fol. 167r: Trinity; then the book ends with prayers for votive masses on fol. 169.
Fol. 45v contains an Easter play (Lipphardt 586).
