Medardus

Medardus, bishop of Vermandois / Noyon (ca 470-560). Though his cult has not spread widely in the Low Countries, he was patron saint of the Medarduskerk in Wessem (Nederlands Limburg).

Among the Rijksarchief Limburg fragments is one leaf of a 14th century (?) antiphoner, containing chants of a Medardus office, notated in Hufnagelschrift, and originating probably from Medarduskerk in Wessem.

The antiphon Medere sancte Medarde (?) in is NL-M Jägers 523, p. 150.
