Martinus de Tours, who lived in the 4th century, was patron of the city of Utrecht and its cathedral.
His natalis (11 Nov.) is widely celebrated and not characteristic for the Low Countries. However, the Utrecht manuscripts contain one chant that is typical for the city or the region: the prosula Euphonias videns, attached to the responsory Martinus Abrahae. The melody of the prosula is identical to that of the melism of resp. Iste Sanctus in the Hartker-antiphoner (De Goede, p. LI).
The prosula is found (among others) in NL-Uu 406 and other manuscripts of St Mary's church, in NL-Uc BMH 39, a processionale of the Buurkerk (De Goede, p. LI), B-Br II 923 (cat.nr. 555), a 15th century noted summer breviary from the Dom of Utrecht. It is also found outside Utrecht: NL-Hs 184 C 3 (Laurentiuskerk in Heemskerk). For his translation feast (4 July) an office according to the secular cursus has been preserved, composed (text as well as music) by bishop Radboud of Utrecht. Besides, Radboud wrote the sequentia Ave summa presulum, to the melody of Beatus vir qui timet (see AH 53, p. 297, nr. 182). This translation office is preserved in NL-Uu 406, Antiphoner from the Utrecht Mariakerk, 2nd half 12th century, and in younger manuscripts of this church and other Utrecht churches.
The oldest record of this office is resp. O felix locus, in NL-Lu BPL 102, with neumes from the 10th or early 11th century.

The hymns Fratres unanimes and En gratulemur spiritu are in Utrecht manuscripts, such as B-Br II 923, summer breviary from the Dom, and NL-Uu 406 from the Mariakerk, as well as in NL-ZUa 6 from the Zutphen Walburgiskerk and NL-DHmw 10 B 26.
The hymn Bellator armis inclitus martinus actu nobilis is a.o. in B-Br 268 (cat.nr. 662), f. 165, NL-DHk 73 G 35, f. 316v, and in NL-DHmw 10 B 26 (in this ms for Commemoratio Martini), and in B-Br 6436 from Abbaye de Villers.

In NL-DHk 78 J 43 (perhaps Stephanusabdij near Utrecht): Rex christe martini (fol. 104v) and Martine par apostolis (fols. 105v and 138r). The same in NL-Uu 425 (fol. 117v).
The sequence Nostri patris ac pastoris is preserved (incompletely) in one of the fragments of the Abdij van Park.
