Maria Oigniacensis (Maria d'Oignies)

Born at Nivelles, ca 1177; died in Oignies (near Luik) in 1213. Together with her husband she took care of the sick. Finally she became a recluse in Oignies. She had mystical experiences.

Feast: 23 June.

Chants

A monastic office and three hymns for her are preserved in B-Br II 1658 (13th century). For the hymns, ascribed to Goswin of Bossut; see AH 12, nrs 323-325. The office is in prose, and is neither in AH nor in LMLO.

Ms B-Br 700 (inv.nr. 3280; Van den Gheyn t. 5), contains a 13th century vita.
