Missionary and martyr; died 754. Feast day: June 5. Patron saint of the Oudmunster in Utrecht.
An office for the Ordinatio (including an antiphon for the octave) is in AH 26, nr. 61. There is a hymn Hymnizet omnis natio (AH 23 nr 250) for this feast and a sequence Laudes deo plebs fidelis (AH 34 nr 213). These are in mss from Hameln.
Other hymns are: Inclita sanctorum (AH 50 nr. 149), Sinceros animos (AH 23 nr 246), and three for 'Bonifacio Moguntino': Bonifacius est ortus (AH 23 nr 247), Hinc conversa Germania (AH 23 nr 248) and Adsis nobis (AH 23 nr. 249).
Sequences are: Bonifaci tu patrone (for Bonifacio Maguntio, from Freckenhorst; mel. Verbum bonum; AH 55, nr. 98) and Preciosa mors sanctorum from Hameln (AH 55 nr. 99).
